For my proposal of the 21/22 Future Directions for Fashion Communication unit, I came up with Buffalo Meta, a virtual platform and metaverse by Buffalo Zine focusing on community and creative expression, replacing the physical magazine.
Buffalo Meta’s first issue: Buffalo Cosplay, will be released in 2030 in the format of a video game taking a sligthly satirical approach to the gamification of fashion. The user can explore the game through a web browser or by connecting their own VR-headset. The metaverse will tell the story of each issue through an immersive experience where the user can talk and connect with others through their customised avatars. Just like the magazine reinvents itself every issue, the concept and aesthetic of the virtual space will change.
Buffalo Meta will also work as a creative agency representing stylists, mua’s, hair stylists and brands part of Buffalo zine. The user can customise their own avatar and being styled by stylists such as Lotta Volkova and experimental make up artists and hair stylists part of the Buffalo community. The avatar will be interoperable into any metaverse and the user will also have the option to purchase virtual fashion from selected partner brands.
